Dickinson Co. Priority #1 Program Receives Special Honors

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Special honors for Priority Number one of Dickinson county.

The Alliance for Youth has announced that Priority Number One is a winner in the organization’s “Great Ideas” contest. Priority Number One President Karen Byers says they were recognized for their Lakes Area Student Council Retreat. Byers says the retreat was viewed by judges as a model for other areas of the country.

In addition, the Iowa Association of Extension Councils recognized the Lakes Area Student Council Retreat as the “Outstanding Program of the Year” for contributions to the growth and development of youth in the state of Iowa.

Byers adds Priority Number One was also recently awarded a SAFE, or Substance Abuse Free Environment, certificate from Governor Vilsack. Byers says the Iowa Department of Transportation will post three SAFE road signs on Highways nine and 71 in Dickinson county.
