Electrical Malfunction Sited As Cause of Spencer House Fire

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A house fire in Spencer Sunday was caused by an electrical malfuction in a first floor room.

That’s according to Dave Schipper with the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

Spencer firefighters were called to 815 West Fourth Street around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and found flames coming out of the north side of the house. The owners, the Greg Johnson family, got out uninjurred.

Schipper says the fire was caused by a malfunction in electrical equipment attached to a dryer. The fire started in a north wall, between the power box and dryer.

Schipper says the house is considered a total loss, with damage estimates nearing 120-thousand dollars.
