(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Compensation Board voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend five percent pay increases in the upcoming fiscal year for County Auditor, Sheriff, Treasurer and Recorder. A three percent hike was recommended for the board of supervisors. County Attorney Rosalise Olsen insisted she receive no raise in the upcoming year, however the Compensation Board approved a motion that her salary be raised, if necessary, to meet a mandatory statutory requirement.
Representatives for the Sheriff and Auditor had earlier recommended smaller increases–four percent and three and-a-half percent respectively. But they decided to increase those after representatives for Treasurer and Recorder came in with the five percent recommendations for those positions.
The board of supervisors will take the Compensation Board’s recommendations into consideration as they work on the budget in upcoming weeks. The supervisors can accept the recommendations as they are or reduce them. They cannot increase them.
