(Storm Lake)– Storm Lake voters have overwhelmingly approved a 3.5 million dollar bond issue that will fund a major component of “Project Awaysis”…a destination park to be built on the shores of Storm Lake.
The measure was supported by 74 percent of those who voted in Tuesday’s election. It needed 60 percent.
The 30 million dollar destination park will include an 80-room lodge with conference center; indoor and outdoor water park; a municipal golf course; 30 condos on the lake; and a lighthouse with a 75-foot observation deck.
An eight million dollar Vision Iowa Grant that was awarded for the project hinged on passage of the bond issue.
