Mahaska County Crash Claims Former E’Ville Man

November 22, 2014

(Oskaloosa)– A former Estherville man has died and four members of his family were injured in a three-vehicle crash last weekend in Mahaska county.

The Iowa State Patrol says 42-year-old James “Jim” Bishop JR of Libertyville, formerly of Estherville, was killed in the crash on Highway 163, about five miles west of Oskaloosa in Mahaska county.

Four other members of his family, his wife Jeanna, their sons James and Jordan and daughter Jillian were injured in the crash and were taken to the hospital.

The Bishop family was traveling west on Highway 163 when their van hit a dump truck, then was struck by a semi-trailer.

Jim Bishop was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronouned dead after arriving at the hospital in Pella. The other family members were taken to a hospital for treatment. Citing HIPPA laws, hospital officials will not release any information about the conditions of the four patients.
