E’Ville Council Sets Lodging Tax Election Date

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Estherville residents will head to the polls in April to decide the fate of a seven percent Hotel/Motel Tax.

The city council Monday voted unanimously to set April 12th as the date for a special election. City Attorney Gordon Forsythe says that date will meet a specific time line that’s required under Iowa Code.

A resolution spelling out exactly how revenue from the tax would be spent will be brought to the council at its next meeting for possible adoption. Details on that are still being negotiated with the Estherville Chamber of Commerce’s Finance Committee, which has been studying the proposal.
