E’Ville Council Adopts Budget

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– Estherville residents can expect to see a hike in their tax bills in the upcoming fiscal year.

Vaughn Brua, the city’s Director of Finances, says the increase amounts to an additional 20 cents per thousand dollars of valuation.

Brua says the budget for the upcoming fiscal year contains a tax levy of $16.50 per thousand dollar valuation, compare with $16.30 in the current budget.

Brua says like other cities, Estherville is faced with special challenges including increased expenditures and decreased revenues, thanks in large part to cuts from the state.

The city council adopted the budget Monday following a public hearing.
