(Graettinger)– A Graettinger teen remains hospitalized following a two-vehicle collision Thursday.
The Iowa State Patrol says it took place around 4:00 p.m. two miles east of Graettinger.
Authorities say 17-year-old Christopher Olsen of Graettinger was travelling on County Road B-14 when he attempted to pass a grain truck and collided head-on with a sport utility vehicle driven by 29-year-old Jose Mireles of Estherville.
Both Olsen and Mireles were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by Graettinger Fire and Rescue crews.
Olsen was taken by ambulance to the Palo Alto County Hospital with critical injuries. He was later transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital. There was no word on his condition.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
