(Undated)– Portions of the region got their first taste of severe weather for the season early this (Wed.) morning.
Heavy thunderstorms moved through between 3:30 and 5:00 a.m. dumping locally heavy rain and in some cases, large hail.
Three-quarter inch hail was reported by an amateur radio operator about a mile south of Spencer around 4:00 a.m.; hail nearly an inch in diameter was reported near Estherville at about the same time; and golf ball-sized hail pummeled Trimont, Minnesota around 5:10 a.m.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for several counties.
No hail was reported in the Iowa Great Lakes Area.
