Okoboji Council Awards Bid On Public Safety Building

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– Meeting in special session Tuesday, the Okoboji city council awarded a bid on the construction of the city’s new Public Safety Building to be constructed west of Tweeter’s. The facility will house the city’s street, police and fire departments.

The council voted unanimously to award the low bid of 1,361,000-dollars submitted by Christiansen Construction of Estherville.

The bid includes two alternates: one is for dehumidification equipment; the other is for a generator and related equipment.

The project, expected to get underway in the next couple of weeks, will take about eight months to complete.

The city has budgeted 850-thousand dollars for the project. The remainder will be financed through a tax increment finance bond. City Administrator Dennis Daly says it will have no affect on property taxes.
