(Spirit Lake)– With spring weather here, many people are getting some yard work done. Along with that, the city of Spirit Lake will resume its curbside collection of yard waste beginning Friday, April 8th. The pick up will continue every Friday through October.
Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says yard waste must be placed in clear, plastic bags and cannot weigh more than 75 pounds each.
Sticks and branches should be no longer than four feet and bundled and tied, not exceeding 75 pounds per bundle.
The clear bags can be purchased at Spirit Lake city hall for 10 dollars for a roll of 30.
If you don’t want to wait for the pick up, Dolphin says you can take your yard waste and dispose of it in some containers at the Public Works Building. He says you should empty out whatever bags or containers you have and take them with you when you’re done. Dropping off garbage or other items won’t be tolerated. Dolphin says the drop-off will be shut down if that gets to be a problem.
