White House Conference On Aging Listening Session

(Spencer)– Area seniors made their feelings known on a variety of issues at a White House Conference on Aging listening session in Spencer Friday.

The session was moderated by the Director of Iowa Department of Elder Affairs, Mark Haverland. He says the main topic was the low level of federal reimbursement Iowa receives for Medicaid and Medicare.

Volunteerism among Iowa senior was another issue brought up.

The Conference on Aging happens once a decade to make policy recommendations to the President and Congress concerning the future of aging Americans.

Information gathered at Friday’s meeting will be presented to the White House Conference on Aging October 23rd through the 26th in Washington, D.C.
