(Spirit Lake)– A rural Ringsted man is in the Dickinson county jail for allegedly making threats against local business people and judicial officials.
66-year-old Galen Bart has been charged with extortion and making terroristic threats…both are class “D” felonies.
Spirit Lake police say they received a complaint about a report of threats of violence made at a local business on March 31st. The threats were initially reported to the Dickinson County Attorney’s Office, which forwarded the information to police. Authorities say the treats are apparently related to the handling of an estate.
As part of their investigation, Spirit Lake police executed a search warrant Wednesday at a rural Ringsted residence. Several firearms were seized, along with other items of evidence.
Bart is being held in the Dickinson county jail on bond of 19,500-dollars.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Emmet-Palo Alto County M-A-R-T Tactical Unit assisted Spirit Lake police in executing the search warrant.
The Dickinson County Attorney’s Office and the A-T-F also assisted.
