Highway Nine Curb & Gutter, Street Light Removal Continues

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Night-time motorists on Highways Nine and 71 through Spirit Lake are finding the going a little darker than usual these days.

Streetlights along the road were removed last week as part of a curb and gutter replacement and resurfacing project.

Jeremy Anderson of Rohlin Construction, General Contractor on the project, says crews have been removing old curb and gutter on the east side of the project in Spirit Lake, and several intersections have been removed. Work on a storm sewer at the intersection of Highway Nine and Lake Street continues as well. Weather permitting, Anderson says crews hope to start pouring some of the new intersections this week. Once those are done, Anderson says crews will start removing the other ones.

Anderson says work on the west side of the project–between the junction with Highway 71 and Vick’s Corner, will start soon with some patching.

Anderson says they hope to start paving by the end of July on the east side of the project. The entire project isn’t slated for completion until this Fall.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution when traveling through the construction zone.
