(Okoboji)– The Lakes Art Center in Okoboji has been awarded a grant of 10,337-dollars through Trees Forever/Iowa’s Living Roadway Trust Fund.
The two organizations have been partners since 1993, working with communities on native planting projects along roadways. Grants of up to 15-thousand dollars are provided for landscape projects that use trees, grasses and wildflowers native to Iowa.
The Lakes Art Center will use the funding to continue restoring an area north of the center, near a wetland. The project includes rock and debris removal, prep work for prairie grass seeding, hydro-seeding of prairie grass, planting 10 prairie crabapple trees and feeding and trimming existing oak treeks.
