(Estherville)– After giving the go-ahead last month for Iowa Lakes Community College President Mike Hupfer to sign an agreement with First Management, Incorporated for the purchase of the Gateway North Mall in Spencer, the college’s trustees took another step Tuesday toward completing the purchase. Following a public hearing, the board voted to approve not more than 1.2 million dollars in Participation Certificates to finance the purchase. College officials again emphasize the transaction will not affect any leases at Gateway North Mall nor will it affect any of the four entities that currently own their portions of the mall.
ILCC trustees also Tuesday decided to proceed with a study into the feasibility of raising funds to construct a new Fine Arts Center on the Estherville Campus. The trustees voted to enter into a contract with Vance Associates of LeMars to perform a “Strategic Readiness Assessment” over a 90-day period.
Trustees also set May 11th for a bid opening on new heating, venting and air conditioning units at the Emmetsburg Campus to replace one that’s failing.
