(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake Police thwarted a burglary in progress Thursday evening.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress at Lakes Apartments at 1514 Hill Avenue. Upon arrival police found 33-year-old Christopher Larson of Spirit Lake inside the apartment. Authorities say the apartment had been forcibly entered by breaking through a locked door.
Larson was arrested without incident and transported to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office where it was discovered he was in possession of several items that had been reported stolen from a motor vehicle in Spirit Lake earlier in the morning. A subsequent investigation led to a search warrant being executed on Larson’s residence at 1101 23rd Street Apartment “A”. Additional stolen items were recovered and seized.
Larson was subsequently charged with burglary in the third degree…class “D” felony; theft in the third degree…an aggravated misdemeanor; and theft in the fourth degree…a serious misdemeanor.
Larson was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Spirit Lake police were assisted at the burglary scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say the case remains under investigation.
