(Arnolds Park)– Arnolds Park city council members say they aren’t going to revisit their decision to cancel a fire protection agreement with Center Grove Township.
The council voted earlier this spring to cancel the agreement effective July 1st, 2006. At the same time the council voted to sue Dickinson county over allowing the rezoning of land for a large condominium and indoor water park on the southeast side of East Lake Okoboji.
The Arnolds Park city council reiterated their stance at their meeting Wednesday. They voted five-to-nothing not to renegotiate at this time. No township representatives were present at the meeting.
Regarding the lawsuit, City Administrator Ron Walker told council members that as of Wednesday the suit hadn’t been filed yet as a transaction involving the property hadn’t taken place yet. Walker says City Attorney Harold White has indicated he’ll file the suit once the transaction takes place.
The city was opposed to the rezoning of what’s known as the “Nielsen” property which is just outside city limits, saying it will task the city’s infrastructure, even though it isn’t part of the city.
