Power Outage Blacks Out Portion Of Downtown SL

(Spirit Lake)– A power outage this (Thurs.) morning in downtown Spirit Lake left some businesses in the dark for awhile.

Alliant Energy says it started getting reports of the outage around 8:50 a.m. A company spokesman says about nine customers were affected, most of them in the 1600 block of Hill Avenue on the west side of the street just south of 16th Street. The cause was a problem with a transformer.

Power was restored to the affected area in less than an hour.
