(Spirit Lake)– Meeting in special session today (Friday), the Spirit Lake city council inked a property-purchase agreement with the company that’s rennovating the former Antler’s Hotel building.
Terms of the deal call for the Troika Group to receive a deed for the building housing the neighboring Full Throttle bar on July 20th, with the city providing the 100-thousand dollars for the purchase price. The property will then be deeded to the city. The Full Throttle will be allowed to stay open for business 180 days after closing on the purchase, with Troika Group serving as landlord of the property during that time.
Other terms call for the city to eventually demolish the Full Throttle building and to create a driveway replacing a vacated alley. The area will also be used for parking. Under the deal, the city can’t vacate the alley until it gets possession of the Full Throttle property September 20th.
The vote to approve the deal wasn’t unanimous, though. Councilman Jerry Harbst cast the lone no vote, with council members Barb Ricke, Kevin Bice, Jeff Thee and Duane Yager all in favor.
