(Spirit Lake)– With four of seven members present, the Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission this (Monday) afternoon voted to recommend the board of supervisors approve preliminary and final plats for the Dreeszen Farm Subdivision on the east side of Big Spirit Lake.
An engineer speaking on behalf of the Dreeszens said the intent was to divide the 132 acres of land among the Dreeszen’s children and that the land would be kept agricultural and would not be rezoned or developed at this time.
There was no public comment prior to the vote, which was unanimous.
The P & Z was also originally scheduled to act on a recommendation for the Vista Del Sol development proposed for the east side of Big Spirit Lake by landowner Jerry Jones. The commission earlier this summer approved a pre-application for the proposed development, but the matter was scratched from the agenda in advance of today’s (Monday’s) meeting. The county’s Planning and Zoning Coordinator, David Kolhaase, read a letter in which Jones indicated he’s been talking with the city of Orleans about voluntarily annexing that area.
