(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission Monday was updated on the progress of updating the county’s long-term comprehensive land use plan…or “comp plan”. The tedious process has been ongoing already for months. Steve Hallgren of the Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission in Spencer is working on the plan for the county. He presented commissioners Monday with copies of the existing land use map. Hallgren says they’re currently reviewing existing land uses in the county and will now begin identifying future land uses in Dickinson county.
Hallgren says they’re still looking for input from the Planning Commission, local officials and citizens. Comments and concerns can be directed to Hallgren, who says it’s anybody’s guess as to when the new Comp Plan will be completed. He says it will probably be atleast another six to eight months before that happens.
Hallgren will continue to meet on a monthly basis with the county’s Planning and Zoning Commission to keep them updated on the status of the Comp Plan update.
