(Milford)– Volunteers have recently completed a week-long clean-up of the Little Sioux River, filling up nearly 23 dump trucks.
About 200 volunteers recovered everything from tv sets to tires.
Merry Rankin of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says about 124 cubic yards of trash were removed.
Department officials suspect that nearly every waterway in the state, in proximity to a city, has very similar amounts of trash. 95 percent of the scrap metal and grabage taken from the Little Sioux River has now been recycled.
