Charges Filed In West Lake Okoboji Boating Incident

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Charges have been filed in connection with an incident early Wednesday morning on West Lake Okoboji.

Authorities say a boat with three people in it left the Central Emporium and was about five hundred feet out from the Amusement Park when one person jumped out of it. Two others eventually jumped out as well. None could find their way back to the boat.

The Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Boat was called to the scene, along with DNR and other law enforcement officers. The three were plucked out of the water and were safely taken to shore.

The operator of the boat was arrested and charged with operating a boat while intoxicated.

No names were immediately being released.
