(Lake Park)– The city of Lake Park will have a new Mayor at the beginning of the new year.
Ann Ditsworth tells KUOO news she will NOT be seeking another term in this November’s election, saying it’s a time of changes in her life, and that she’s realigning her personal priorities in order to spend more time with her children.
Ditsworth says passage of a bond referendum in 2002 that resulted in the construction of the new school, community center and athletic fields was a major accomplishment during her tenure as Mayor. She says that was a huge turning point for the Lake Park community.
She’s also very proud of three new housing developments in the city. Ditsworth adds groups are working on preserving and improving downtown Lake Park; another is the formation of a group working to protect and improve the water quality of Silver Lake.
Ditsworth says she’ll miss the regular interaction with the townspeople and as far as helping guide the community.
Having said that, Ditsworth says it’s time for new blood, and that it’s important as many people as possible get involved in their city government.
Ditsworth has been Mayor of Lake Park the last four years.
Ditsworth also told KUOO news she’ll be resigning from her position with the Corridor of Opportunity.
