(Wahpeton)– The daughter of a man killed in a hit-and-run boat crash says she’s not angry.
Libby Brosnahan’s father has been killed and her mother has been seriously injured in a collision on West Lake Okoboji early last Friday. The whereabouts of the boat and its operator remain unknown.
Though Libby Brosnahan says she isn’t angry about the accident, knowing the identity of the driver would give her piece of mind.
Michael J. Brosnahan, a Perry dentist, died in the accident. His wife, Jill, is listed in stable condition at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Four other people aboard the boat with the Brosnahan’s weren’t injured.
Meanwhile the search for the suspect boat and its operator has broadened. Gary Owen of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says they’re closely looking at anything that even remotely matches the previously released description of a predominantly white 22-foot Runabout with two red stripes about six to eight inches wide about a foot apart.
The public is asked to be on the lookout for any boats matching that description that may not have returned to their normal parking space such as a boat slip or driveway or has recently shown signs of damage to the keel. Authorities say the damages may not be extensive based on the fact the boat was able to leave the scene.
Starting at 7,500-dollars by Noon Saturday, a reward fund for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever’s responsible grew to 25-thousand dollars by Saturday afternoon.
Authorities say the reward offer generated about three dozen phone calls, and they were pursuing tips in South Dakota, Mason City and Des Moines.
