Sheriff: Suspect Wanted In Fatal Hit & Run Is NOT From Lakes Area

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– It’s a slow process, but investigators are gradually narrowing down the list of possible suspects in a fatal hit-and-run boat accident earlier this month on West Lake Okoboji.

Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun told KUOO news Monday a suspect being sought in the case is NOT from the Iowa Great Lakes Area.

Numerous rumors have been making the rounds since it was announced last weekend authorities had seized a boat believed to have been involved in the crash. Kevin Baskins of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources says investigators have spent the last several days analyzing the boat and trying to reconstruct just how the accident took place. He says it’s a very time consuming, meticulous process.

Baskins and Baloun say they hope they’ll be able to release additional details very soon.

No charges have been filed yet and no arrests have been made yet in the case.

A funeral service for Doctor Michael Brosnahan of Perry, who was killed in the crash, was held Monday in West Des Moines. His wife, Jill, was injured in the crash. She has since been released from the hospital.
