Counties & Cities Awarded Federal Disaster Grants

(Des Moines)– 12 Iowa counties and 23 cities will get more than 994-thousand dollars in federal funding to prepare for disasters.

The money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be used for mitigation plans and elevating homes above flood plains. The funds are provided through the pre-disaster mitigation competitive grant program.

Kossuth is among the counties receiving a grant, along with the cities of Ruthven and Sheldon.
