Paullina Pizza Parlor Fire Ruled Accidental

November 22, 2014

(Paullina)– A fire over the weekend that damaged a Paullina pizza parlor has been ruled an accident.

Deputy State Fire Marshall Dave Schipper says it appears an electrical malfunction in the southwest corner of an office started the blaze. He says an extension cord connected to a plugstrip surge protector is the likely source of the problem.

Damage estimates will likely top 50-thousand dollars.

Schipper reminds everyone that surge protector plugstrips should be used only on low voltage items and that extension cords should be used only as a temporary fix. He says permanent wiring and outlets should be installed where needed.
