Nearman Turns Himself In To Dick. Co. Authorities; Posts Bond

(Spirit Lake)– A South Dakota man wanted by local authorities in connection with an August 12th hit-and-run boat crash that claimed the life of a Perry dentist turned himself in today (Thurs.) to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office.

29-year-old Justin Nearman of Sioux Falls posted bond of 42,250-dollars and waived an initial appearance in Dickinson County District Court. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 28th.

Nearman is alleged to have been the operator of a boat involved in a collision on West Lake Okoboji that killed 51-year-old Michael Brosnahan and seriously injured his 50-year-old wife, Jill.

Nearman was initially arested in South Dakota August 23rd and was released after posting bond there.

Nearman has been charged with operating while intoxicated resulting in death…a class “B” felony and operating a boat while intoxicated resulting in serious injury…a class “D” felony. If convicted he faces no more than 25 years in prinson the class “B” felony and no more than five years on the class “D” felony.
