Dickinson Co. P & Z Recommends Re-zoning For Cemetery Expansion

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission Monday voted five-to-nothing to recommend the board of supervisors approve preliminary and final plats for what’s known as the “T & W Subdivision” on the northwest side of Pleasant Lake. The land had been subdivided once before, and had to follow this process in order to divide it a second time, allowing for one lot slightly larger than 10 acres in size.

The P & Z also Monday voted to recommend the supervisors approve a rezoning request making it possible for St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery to expand its cemetery west of Milford. The land, owned by marjorie Bever, is currently zoned heavy industrial. Under the proposal, it would be re-zoned agriculture, one of two classifications in the county’s zoning ordinance that allows for the use of a cemetery.

In other action they voted to amend the county’s zoning ordinance pertaining to sideyard setbacks in areas zoned Resort Enterprise; and they held a workshop on the city’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update.
