(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday were presented with a new timeframe for the courthouse project.
According to the newly revised schedule, the first phase construction won’t be ready for being moved into until mid-February. That’s two months later than the original time line, but is an improvement from recent predicitions that didn’t have the first phase being completed until March.
On a related note, the supervisors approved a changeorder on the project adding 3/8ths inch plywood to cover some foam where some single membrane roofing glues to a wall. It results in an additional cost of 9,375-dollars. It brings the total amount of changeorders approved so far to 164,910-dollars. So far, about 24 percent of the money budgeted for changeorders has been spent.
In other business, the supervisors heard a request to establish a tax increment finance district in the Country View Acres area east of Milford on County Road A-34. The TIF proceeds would be used to upgrade roads in the subdivision to county standards, in exchange for the county taking them over. The supervisors took no official action on the request. They directed the County Engineer to meet with a representative of the subdivision to discuss road and drainage issues. The representative was also directed to get current and project assessments on property values in that area.
The supervisors also approved a request from the Trails Association to use some fill dirt the county has stored at the fairgrounds to extend a trail along the west side of Big Spirit Lake. The county will sell 2,760 cubic yards of the fill to the association at the rate of 50 cents per cubic yard.
