Rural Development Grants Awarded

(Spencer)– Clay Regional Water has been awarded an 895-thousand dollar loan through the USDA’s Rural Development Program. The loan will be used to add 27 users to the Clay Regional Water District, finance water studies and system improvements and complete ongoing construction. The funds are through the USDA’s Water and Waste Disposal Direct Loan and Grant Program.

It was also announced Tuesday that Corn Belt Power Cooperative will receive over 24 million dollars in loans for various rural development projects from the USDA. The loans are through the USDA’s Rural Development Electric Program. The funds will be used for system upgrades.

Locally, Corn Belt Power Cooperative serves Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Kossuth, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Plymouth counties.
