(Spirit Lake)– EMTs, paramedics, First Responders firefighters and other emergency personnel from throughout the upper midwest will converge on Spirit Lake this weekend for the annual University of Okoboji EMS Conference. Steve Hopkins of the Dickinson County EMS Association says this marks the 19th year for the event which offers continuing education.
The conference typically draws people from Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska and this year, Wisconsin.
Hopkins says this year’s conference will cover a wide range of topics, including how to preserve a death scene.
In addition to that, Hopkins says four air ambulances are scheduled to be on hand–two Saturday and two Sunday.
Hopkins says they’re still accepting registrations for the conference. You can sign up by contacting Iowa Lakes Community College. Registration will also be accepted at the door.
The event will be held at the Expo Building on the Dickinson county fairgrounds in Spirit Lake.
