Semis Collide Near Brewster, Mn.; Two People Sent To Hospital

(Brewster, Mn.)– A collision involving two semi tractor-trailers Wednesday on Highway 60 near Brewster sent two people to the hospital.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 38-year-old Steven Dykstra of Hospers, Iowa was driving a 2001 Freightliner tractor pulling a 2000 reefer trailer that collided with a 1988 Freighliner tractor pulling a 1985 Timke grain trailer driven by 75-year-old Richard Johnson of Rushmore, Minnesota.

Dykstra was taken by ambulance to Fairmont hsopital and was transferred to Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls with a shattered ankle, punctured lung, broken ribs and lacerations to his head and leg. Johnson took himself to the hosptial to be checked over.

The Freightliner tractor driven by Dykstra was totaled; the trailer it was pulling sustained severe damage. The Freightliner tractor driven by Johnson sustained severe damage; the trailer it was pulling was totaled.
