(Lake Park)– Dickinson County Road M-27 was closed Sunday between just south of Lake Park and the Clay county line.
Sheriff Greg Baloun says some rock and oil used to seal coat that stretch of road has failed. He says rocks were coming off and tar was sticking to vehicles and tires.
The road has been closed until further notice.
The road was sealcoated just in the last week or so.
It isn’t certain if the recent heavy rains contributed to the problem. Over five inches of rain has fallen on the Iowa Great Lakes since Saturday. Many basements have water in them and several low-lying areas were flooded. Street flooding was common throughout the lakes area.
