(Lake Park)– A Dickinson county road that left some vehicles coated with tar over the weekend remains closed this (Monday) afternoon.
County Road M-27 remains off limits to all traffic from about four miles south of Highway Nine south to the Clay county line.
The road was sealcoated last Friday and for whatever reason the pea rock and oil didn’t adhere. Instead, it peeled off, resulting in some vehicles getting splattered with tar.
Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert says he met this (Monday) morning with the contractor on the project. Eckert says they believe the cloudy, wet conditions over the weekend didn’t give the tar time to cure. He says crews were back on the scene today (Monday) putting more sand and pea rock on the road. He says the sunny weather is also helping to cure the tar.
Eckert says the road could be reopened tomorrow (Tuesday) if things go accordingly.
