(Spirit Lake)– Some new decorations will adorn the new light poles along Highways nine and 71 in Spirit Lake this coming holiday season.
The city council Tuesday voted to spend roughly four thousand dollars on new lighted garland for the poles, similar to what’s been placed on poles along Lake Street the last couple of years.
The council made the motion on the condition of funding being available. City Administrator Pete Hegeman says the money would probably have to come from the city’s Equipment Revolving Fund.
The garland will be put on poles between Peoria Avenue and the Highway 71 junction.
Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says the old decorations probably won’t be put up any more because of their poor condition.
