Two Vehicle Crash In Clay Co. Sends Two People To The Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Saturday in Clay county sent two people to the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office says 82-year-old Frances Guttner of Remsen was westbound on Highway 18 when she collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 17-year-old Mckenzie Menke of Everly. Authorities say Menke had stopped to make a left-hand turn onto County Road M-27 when the collision occurred.

Menke and a passenger in the vehicle driven by Guttner, 83-year-old Mary Wersinger of Remsen, were taken to the Spencer Hospital with minor injuries.

1,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Menke; damage to a 1992 Oldsmobile driven by Guttner was estimated at 2,500-dollars.

Guttner was cited for failure to maintain control.

The mishap took place around 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
