Dickinson Supervisors Award Bid On Audio-Visual Equipment

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday awarded a bid on multi-media equipment for the new courthouse. The 87,560-dollar bid was awarded to Mid States Audio…the only company to submit a bid.

The vote wasn’t unanimous. Supervisor Wayne Northey cast the lone dissenting vote, expressing concern over just the one bid that was submitted, saying atleast one other vendor didn’t bid because the specifications weren’t detailed enough. Fellow supervisor Paul Johnson countered, saying it was a case of sour grapes. He added the company that dropped out of the process “had made a considerable amount of money off the county in the past”.

The supervisors voted four-to-one to award the bid based on a recommendation from Barry Larensen, a multi-media consultant who has done work for other counties.

The 87,560-dollar bid came in slightly below the 89-thousand that is budgeted for the system which will be installed in both courtrooms in the new courthouse.
