New Artist To Set Up Shop & Classroom In Spencer

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The city of Spencer will the home of a new art studio and school within the next year.

Curtis Dean, Vice President of the Spencer Alliance for a Creative Economy, says Tony Curiel has decided to relocate his art studio to Spencer. Dean says Curiel is also looking at creating a new school for the visual arts in Spencer.

Curiel, a nationally known and respected glass artist, first traveled to Spencer last year to help the Bogenrief’s move their glass-blowing operation to town. This fall he came back with his family and several associates to take a closer look at Spencer as a possible new home and location for his art school. Dean says following the visit Curiel made his decision to move to Spencer.

The location for the new Curiel School for the Visual Arts hasn’t been determined yet.

Dean says Curiel will be moving his glass studio to Spencer this coming spring. Plans are to have the school up and running by the end of next year.
