(Spencer)– Charges have been filed against two male juveniles in connection with an incident Sunday afternoon in rural Clay county.
The Sheriff’s Office says it received a report around 2:00 p.m. of kids placing a mannequin near the intersection of County Road B24 and 260th Avenue and appeared to be watching to see if any vehicles drove over it. Upon investigating deputies determined the mannequin was actually a discarded chair that had been hit by a vehicle.
As their investigation continued, authorities spotted a suspect vehicle and stopped it on 10th Avenue East near Spencer High School. As the deputy questioned the occupants, two male juveniles allegedly tried to lie about the incident. Once the deputy determined the facts, the two 16-year-olds were arrested and charged with interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. They were transported to the Clay county jail where they were charged, processed and released to a parent or guardian. The vehicle they were in was towed and three passengers were released on the scene.
