Dickinson Co. Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Firearms Charge

November 22, 2014

(Sioux City)– A Dickinson county man has pleaded guilty in federal court to a firearms charge.

54-year-old Stevie Glenn Howard pleaded guilty last month to a charge of being a felon with a firearm.

At a plea hearing, Howard admitted that on March 21st, 2004 law enforcement officers discovered ammunition in his vehicle which they had stopped after getting a report of a disturbance from Howard’s live-in girlfriend. A search of Howard’s residence turned up additional ammunition along with a shotgun.

Sentencing for Howard is set for April 18th. He’s being held in the custody of the U-S Marshal. He faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of up to 250-thousand dollars and up to three years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U-S Attorney Kevin Fletcher and was investigated by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Authorities add the case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a cooperative of local, state and federal programs aimed at the enhanced prosecution of gun crimes.
