Domestic Results In Drug Charges Against Rural Linn Grove Man

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A daughter’s call for help aided the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in a narcotics investigation and landed a rural Linn Grove man in jail on drug charges.

Authorities say it stems from July 17th when they received a report of a domestic assault from Cherish Rettig of rural Linn Grove. Rettig stated her father, 57-year-old Alan Rettig, grabbed her by the throat and choked her during an argument.

Deputies located Alan Rettig in the residence where he was taken into custody.

Authorities then searched the area from where Rettig appeared and found drug paraphernalia. Based on that, deputies obtained a search warrant for Rettig’s residence where they found pipes, scales, marijuana, a small marijuana growing operation, drying marijuana and evidence of a meth lab.

Certified lab officers then joined the search. They found numerous items used in the manufacturing of meth.

Rettig was booked into the Clay county jail on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine… class “B” felony; possession of lithium; possession of pseudoephedrine, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, and manufacturing marijuana…all class “D” felonies; domestic assault…a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor.

Bond was set at more than 171-thousand dollars.

The Clay County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, State Fire Marshall, and the Clay County Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say their investigation continues and additional arrests are likely.
