(Arnolds Park)– The city of Arnolds Park is a step closer to annexing a controversial development on the southeast side of East Lake Okoboji.
With one member absent and another voting via speaker-phone, the council voted four-to-nothing to approve adding a “Resort Enterprise” designation to the city’s zoning ordinance. City officials say Bridges Bay Development best fits that classification, which has an allowance for buildings up to a maximum height of 50 feet along with a 60-foot setback from the lake.
City Attorney Harold White told the council no other developments already in the city fit that designation.
White added no timeline has been given to him as to when the city will actually receive Bridges Bay’s petition requesting annexation. The developers want into the city as they’ve encountered difficulties in getting some infrastructure extended to the area, including water.
The council voted to add the Resort Enterprise designation following a public hearing Wednesday evening that drew comments from a handful of people.
