Snow/Ice Causes Wrecks On I-90

(Jackson, Mn.)– Snow and ice sent several motorists slip-sliding away Monday and Monday night on Interstate 90 in southwest Minnesota.

Authorities say 35-year-old Kristy Place of Sioux Falls lost control of a 2000 Volkswagon bug that left the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 in Jackson county and rolled shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday. Place was taken to the Jackson Medical Center where she was treated and released for a cut on the forehead.

Another rollover took palce shortly before 11:00 p.m. on the westbound lanes of I-90 at mile marker 52 in Jackson county. The State Patrol says 53-year-old Louis Polilli of Cary, North Carolina lost control of a 1996 Mazda pickup. Polilli was taken to the Worthington hospital where he was treated and released for a minor injury.

The patrol also investigated a passing-type accident shortly before 12:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 at mile marker 60 in Jackson county. Authorities say it involved a 1999 International semi driven by 28-year-old David Bicknese of Welcome and a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 18-year-old Dora Fithad of Worthington. Fithad and a passenger in her vehicle, 20-year-old Paeng Phady of Worthington, were both taken to the Worthington hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. No injuries were reported to Bicknese.
