Dickinson Co. Supervisor Wants Bugs Fixed In New Courthouse

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Dickinson county supervisor says she wants to make sure some bugs in the first phase of the new courthouse are fixed before officially signing off on the project.

Mardi Allen told fellow supervisors Tuesday she’s concerned over some things that have cropped up that may not be on the final punch list. She says there have been some issues with electrical, cabling, plumbing and the roof.

The supervisors voted five-to-nothing Tuesday to approve a certificate of substantial completion conditional on the county being able to add those deficiencies to the final punch list within the next 30 days.

On a related note, the supervisors approved an additional 17,800 dollars in changeorders for the project. Nearly 68 percent of what was budgeted for changes has been spent so far.

As far as the old courthouse is concerned, asbestos removal is to start April 3rd with demolition getting underway about three weeks later.
