(Des Moines)– Some rate changes are apparently in store for customers of Alliant Energy.
State regulators have taken the next step in equalizing the unequal rates between the company’s service territories. The decision by the Iowa Utilities Board sets the stage for a modest rate increase in some Alliant zones this summer–ranging from roughly one percent to three percent.
It also will cause some customers to shift between rate classes within their zones, as the utility moves toward more uniform rate classes.
The board released no details of its decision, stating only that it moves toward rate equalization and does not bring Alliant more overall revenue. Specific effects on individual customer classes in each rate zone will be detailed in a written order later this month.
