E’Ville Traffic Stop Results In Discovery Of Mobile Meth Lab

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– What started out as a traffic stop in Emmet county Monday has resulted in the discovery of a mobile meth lab.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says it all started when they received a report of a possible fight on Highway Four south of Estherville, possibly involving drivers of two vehicles. Short after, authorities received another report that the two vehicles were headed into Estherville. Officers managed to stop them a short time later on South Ninth Street in Estherville.

An investigation determined 39-year-old Jodi Williams of Spirit Lake, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was wanted on an O’Brien county warrant. She was taken into custody and transported to the Emmet county jail.

In addition, officers discovered there were no plates on the vehicle and the driver, 35-year-old Danny Frerichs, Junior of Spirit Lake was cited and released. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. While conducting an inventory of the vehicle’s contents, authorities found a thermos jug, plastic gas can and glass jars with hazardous chemicals in them associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A clandestine lab team was called in, along with a sepcial hazardous waste clean-up team. Several nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

Williams has been charged with possession of anhydrous ammonia…a class “D” felony; manufacturing of methamphetamine…a class “C” felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia. A warrant has been issued for Frerichs, who’s wanted on the same charges.
