Warrant Provides Details Of I-D Theft Sting In Worthington

November 22, 2014

(Worthington, Mn.)– A federal warrant provides details of an I-D theft sting in Worthington.

A month before Tuesday’s raid at the Swift meatpacking plant in Worthington, federal agents had already arrested a man accused of trafficing in identification documents in the Worthington area.

Federal agents set up a sting to buy three birth certificates and social security cards from a suspect named Bismarck Guillen-Esquivel. A search warrant says they made buys in August, September and November–and the documents all proved to be genuine.

A grand jury indicted Guillen-Esquivel in November on charges of document trafficking, aggravated identity theft and the illegal sale of social security cards.

Federal officials say Tuesday’s sweep at six plants nationwide highlighted the problem of illegal immigrants using stolen identities.
